The CEO of France Telecom, the parent company of the U.K. carrier Orange, spoke with the French media recently and gave a launch date for the iPhone 5 in no uncertain terms: October 15.
“If we believe what we have been told, the iPhone 5 will be released on 15 October,” Stéphane Richard told the reporters. He declined to give any further details when they asked.
As Apple is sometimes known to do staggered releases with products, this particular date may not be the same for the United States, we’ll just have to wait and see. It is quite possible that he was only referring to his networks. The October 15 date just so happens to fall on the last day of the Sprint vacation blackout we reported on the other day, so if that date is true, either the U.S. is getting it sooner or Sprint totally blew the blackout plans. (And of course, that also hinges on if Sprint is actually getting the iPhone 5.)
No matter how you slice it, it is looking like early to mid-October will see the release of the long awaited phone, now we just have to wait to hear it from them.
When do you think the iPhone 5 will release?
